Since the first Ignite took place in Seattle around 10 years ago, Ignite has become an international phenomenon, with Ignite events produced in Helsinki, Tunisia, Paris, New York City and over 350 other locations in between.Ignite’s mission is “Everyone Speaks”. We believe that public speaking builds confidence in individuals and that events like Ignite build community. Our goal is to make it possible for anyone, anywhere, to learn to present their ideas and their stories.

Ignite is also about having fun, and showing that presentations don’t need to be about “death by PowerPoint”.

Talk title: “Beyond the Why”

At the core of all I do is the passion for every person to feel that they are a person of worth and has something of value to contribute to the world. For too long people have been going along to work, going through the motions, and are left feeling like they are not valuable or valued. What I have found, is that it is in the giving of oneself that we find this greatest sense of purpose and fulfillment. With this as a central focus of our lives and business, we can all find a life that has meaning. As we are lifted outside of our own stories and focus on someone else, something magical happens that transcends our daily life. We all have this something. Something to give, something greater than we could ever imagine. This Beyond the Why. The message is simple. “You are a person of great worth who has enormous value to bring to the world. Let’s find out what it is.”

Talk Title: “Change your Mind, Change your World”

With the power of our Mind we can transform any circumstance in our life that we wish to. As a humanity we have grown exponentially in our external world, with global communication transport infrastructure etc. Within our internal world, we have not grown as fast. We have advanced so far but seem to be unhappier than ever. We are currently living amidst a mental health crisis.

The statistics of depression and suicide is nothing short of alarming. There has never been a more important time to pay attention to our wellbeing. I have discovered that through practices such as mindfulness meditation and positive psychology we can shift our mindset, therefore, begin to positively grow through life challenges. Through changing our minds we can change our entire world.

Title of talk: “Change Perspective Change Reality”

It is time for me to bring my message to the world. Diving into the deep end in such an ignited way will open the discussion and change my reality and those I touch. Why me? Because no one has seen the world from the perspective and seen the perceptions the way an Ex-police officer who survived the Corruption Era of the 80’s and who went on to become an accomplished systems integrator and healer. Now is the time to change the reality so we can change the world.

Karen Lee Morrison

Title of Talk: “Crisis is a Catalyst for Change”

Trust is good but control of your life is better and we each need to take responsibility for ourselves. Many people who are empty nesters and older I have met on my new journey suffer from the angst that they are not good enough. They believe what they have in this life is all they deserve. They have lost their usefulness and forgotten how to laugh. My passion and vision are to inspire share and teach people that we are never too old to learn.
To find laughter in their lives and live it to the fullest once more.

I help them to see the light of what can be achieved with a different mindset. Age is merely a number and our brains are like a muscle that needs to be exercised daily! Change is good, learning and laughter go hand in hand and will keep us young in mind body and spirit.

Title of talk: “Your resume isn’t working for your career”

Having lived all the ups and downs of being a first time jobseeker in new industries, to returning to work and moving interstate, getting promotions and recruiting staff – I know the challenges and have the insight as to why people struggle getting a job | The recruitment process is broken and 95% of people are still using an out-dated resume template from MS Word or Google that doesn’t work | I’m frustrated and tired of seeing the same crappy resumes and people not understanding that they need to create career stories before they even look at how to format their resume in a totally new style.

It’s about a 180 deg change in how Australian workers (and educators for our future workforce) need to view their career development.

Title of Talk: “Doing Good by Doing Good ”

How do you create a workplace that is inspiring and dynamic for your team and at the same time create an incredible competitive advantage?

“Shared Value” is not a feel good idea. It is the future of business.

The exciting part is it helps solve the worlds social challenges at the same time.

Sarifa Alonto Younes

Title of Talk: “Love your Obstacles: Turn obstacles into Opportunities”

Young girl, Sarifa Younes grew up with a family she loved, in a country she loved, doing what she loved — playing games with her friends under the warm shelter of her family home in her hometown of Marawi City in the Philippines.

At age ten, her innocent world was ripped apart forever when tragedy struck and Sarifa’s fate was sealed. She was an orphan, alone in the world armed with nothing but a dream. A dream to end her misery and get an education.

Teaching herself to read and write from her brother’s schoolbooks was the first step, ploughing through a series of obstacles, prejudices and gender inequalities was the next. Purpose-driven and intent on making something of her life, Sarifa found a secret formula that helped end her suffering and transform her thinking and her life forever.

Sarifa’s inspiring story of struggle and triumph will help anyone face and overcome their obstacles in life with a new sense of passion, purpose and grace. Never has there been a better time to learn how to Love Your Obstacles.

Suzanne Beaver

Title of talk: “Heaven is a Halfpipe”

As a long-time student of life, Suzanne has watched as people the world over have sought to better themselves and their situation. Even as a young dancer in Europe, she understood the inherent need to look at her world with more than just superficial eyes, because in the depths of every person; place; event or coincidence lay the truth which needs to be expressed.
Bringing that truth to light is the reason why Suzanne is here today. Her talk – ‘Heaven is a Halfpipe’, seeks to offer some insights into what makes Heaven and Hell, as a notion, so pertinent in today’s search for Happiness. She realizes that without the power of belief in your right to Happiness, things will never change and our upside-down world and its civilizations will keep rotating off-kilter, spinning ever further away from its true function. “If not now, when?” – Hillel the Elder. Why not me?
